Lyndon Terracinini introduces Lisa Gasteen, internationally acclaimed Wagnerian soprano
Lisa Gasteen, a soprano who until two years ago was swept up in Europe’s opera world as one of the most in-demand singers of Wagnerian and baroque roles. A domestic incident which caused damage to her vocal nerves ended that part of her career and in her speech she reflected on the sacrifices which this kind of celebrity demands. In its place she has turned to teaching and mentoring and her mission is to found a summer school in Brisbane that will keep our finest singers from going abroad for tuition by bringing the great teachers of the world to Australia.
