Arts & Public Life Breakfast ‘A divided life—notes on music, management and their uncommon bonds’

Kim Williams, Chief Executive, Foxtel.

Kim Williams, besides being a powerful figure in the commercial entertainment industry, is an accomplished clarinettist who studied composition with Peter Sculthorpe and later studied in Europe with Luciano Berio. He moved by degrees from performance to management but music has remained a central part of his life and, unknown to his colleagues, his board-room encounters are accompanied in his mind my music. On this occasion he prepared a soundscape to accompany his speech in which music, from popular tunes to the classics, commented, sometime ironically, on his narrative of a musical life.
