Arts and Public Life Breakfast Australian Screen: The way forward

Graeme Mason, a man with extensive global experience of commercial filmaking, took up his post in November and in March proved himself a powerful speaker at Doc Week in Adelaide when he inveighed against a perceived negativity and sense of entitlement in the Australian industry and called for generational change. ‘We need to recognise we are part of the global market’, he said. Since then his plans have been circumscribed by the report of the federal Commission of Audit, that recommended Screen Australia’s funding be halved and the office merged with the Australia Council.
