Arts & Public Life ‘Towards a rational policy for the equitable promotion of the creative arts’

Katharine Brisbane with Dr Roger Dean
Dr Roger Dean, composer, biochemist, researcher into music improvisation and cognition. Former Foundation CEO of the Heart Research Institute, and former Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Canberra.
For most of his life he has kept his professions of science and music separate from the other’s knowledge because, he said, knowledge of one would undermine the other. However, on this occasion the scientist has devised a ‘rational’ approach to subsidising the arts and presented it to our audience.
